Message on Speaking in Tongues
We hear at the House of Refuge Church, Inc. believe in Speaking in Tongues because the experience is not just based on personal experience but is recorded in scripture. Jesus said the signs shall follow those that believe. Mark 16:17. The experience involves not just the emotions but the intellect and your will. You have to have faith to receive it. You need to believe that God is real and that he will do something about what he said in his Word. Jesus made it clear that being born again was not optional in John. 3:3. He said if you want to see God display his power you had to be born again. You need a new heart and you must become a new creation. When you where born into this physical world you started as a baby. The doctor helped you come out of the womb and you made a sound for the 1st time in the natural world, You cried. That's all you could do because you had not developed to the age where you could communicate verbally and use language. It took time, You had to grow. The same is with the Kingdom of God. When you are born into God's kingdom it is a supernatural birth into the heavens. And, the Holy Ghost comes upon you and you speak another language. Paul describes it as the language of angels. As a new babe in Christ. The Holy Ghost will give you the ability to speak in other languages that you did not have to learn like they did on the day of Pentecost. And, we know that they are other languages because the scripture states that the people gathered around heard them speak in their own native languages. Act 2:8. You may be thinking that was then but its not happening now but God is not a respecter of persons. Babies are naturally being born the same way. God has not changed that. Why would he need to change the spiritual birthing process? He has set the process in motion. You plant a seed you get a harvest. The Word of God is a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. He will speak through you if you receive him with a right heart. But you need to receive it by faith, as a little child in order to see God manifest his power. There are many preachers who will tell you its not necessary and its just a gift. It is the gift of salvation. It is the gift of the truth. It is Jesus in you. And, when you are overshadowed by the power of the Most High. A miracle will happen. Its just like when God spoke to Moses through the burning bush. The bush didn't mean anything. But it was the voice of the Lord that got Moses attention. He was awe struck that he heard a voice but did not see a person. That is how it is when you speak in tongues. God will show you that it is him who is doing the talking an not you. Some people will try to scare you and say that demon's are speaking through you. And, the truth is as long as you use your will and stand on the Word of God. The sword of the Spirit . No devil can stand against you. Because the Angels will respond to the Word of God. So, I encourage you seek God while he may be found.
